WTF is Meditating Anyways??

We hear all the time from people wondering how to meditate the “right way” or that they think they’re “bad at it.'“ The truth is though, that there is NO SUCH THING as being bad at meditating! Everyone meditates in different ways and there is no proper way to do it.

When we first started meditating, we thought meditating was to stop thinking - which is pretty much impossible. Meditation is simply about NOTICING your thoughts, how your body, or what’s around you. It’s an awareness. Which means that even if you’re noticing that you’re being an asshole to yourself in your head - you’re still meditating!

We’ll be the first to admit that we have some pretty shitty self talk - both when we’re meditating AND when we’re practicing yoga - lots of “WTF am I doing?” “why am I like this” & anger towards the teacher leading the class or the other people in the room for being “better” than us. We thought something was wrong with us because we couldn’t just “clear our mind” like the yoga teacher was saying.

But we are here to tell you that all of the the WTF moments during your meditation or yoga class (no matter how long you’ve been practicing!) is okay! Trying to meditate and meditating are the same thing. Fuck what the “lOvE & LiGhT” instagram influencers are saying & fuck what anyone else but YOU says about how you “need” to meditate.

Do it how you feel is best for YOU!
