Diversity In Yoga

BLACK LIVES MATTER

& Diversity in yoga matters.

Part of being NAF & creating a brave space for ALL of you means that we're not just here to celebrate our diverse community - we're dedicated to sticking up for & protecting one another, too.

Please take the time to read through the different ways we can work together to help put a stop to racism & amplify Black voices in general, and especially in the yoga & healing community.

PRACTICE FOR A CAUSE

Join us in THE VAULT - The Vault was inspired by two things - The pandemic & the BLM movement. During a time when we’re asked to stay apart physically is all the more reason to double down on being together virtually. While we don’t have a million dollars (yet!) we are teaming up to support awesome causes to bring more diversity into the infamously exclusive yoga & healing industry. Because yoga is for fucking everyone.

100% of proceeds from The Vault memberships will go DIRECTLY to different companies, organizations & events dedicated to bringing yoga to where there is none, cultivating safe spaces where our Black & POC friends feel welcome to practice & funding teacher trainings for future kickass teachers.

If you’ve been following us for awhile, you know your NAF Babes are scrappy AF. We don’t need fancy filming equipment or stuffy sound set ups - we’re here to bring you unfiltered, REAL classes, workshops & meditations straight from our homes. You’ll feel like you’re right there with us. Oh! And all of our classes were generously made on a volunteer basis from our instructors.

Click here to meet our first Vault partner, Pam Shanti SatNam Buckner of the Soul Long Beach Yoga Festival & learn how to donate & practice with us.

BIPOC YTT Scholarships

Dancing Dogs Yoga and Namaste As Fuck are teaming up to offer up to $2000 scholarships for BIPOC yoga teacher training!

**these scholarships usually run a few times a year, so if the date we have listed has passed (bc we’re not always great at updating our website :P), click the link anyways to check new dates!

What is the DDY BIPOC Scholarship?

The yoga space has for too long been lacking in the diversity that we teach, and while we have always opened our doors to a rich tapestry of human beings from many backgrounds and cultures, we want to do more.

Why was this scholarship was created?

We believe that yoga should be accessible to everyone, and want to do our part to increase diversity in our students, and in our teachers delivering yoga to our communities. Yoga communities TALK about diversity and TALK about accountability, but we need to DO more. We want to amplify black and brown voices.

With this in mind, we are offering FIVE partial scholarships to each of our upcoming yoga teacher training in Atlanta, GA, Clayton, NC, and our virtual certification for BIPOC students. All of these training are part of our fully certified Yoga Alliance-approved yoga school.

Come hang with our girl Yuky - one of our kickass retreat teachers & also a recipient of last year's scholarship - & hear about her experience

SUPPORT

- Support black owned businesses! Our friends @mkmykingdom & @stuzoclothing is a great place to start - if you're not ready to make a purchase, following/liking/commenting helps too!

- Check out this list of over 150 Black owned businesses you can support

- There is an app called The Black Wallet that just dropped with a full directory of Black owned businesses - download & shop there!

DONATE

- If you're able, please join us in donating to The Black Visions Collective, an organization dedicated to lift up communities, end police brutality and build a more just future.

As we all learn how to have uncomfortable conversations around race and making a change, know that it's okay to be corrected - none of this is about already knowing everything or being right, it’s about listening & learning.

This isn’t just a trend or a way for all of us to check boxes for PR, we’re committed to this as life long work - just like we commit to our own healing & yoga journey as a practice. We will keep listening & learning new ways we can get involved and make a difference.

Thank you so much for being here, we love you so much. <3
